Fighting for local pharmacies
SUCCESS: Allied Pharmacies takes over failing Jhoots locations
Following months of poor service, unexpected closures, and residents being unable to access vital medicines - Allied Pharmacies has taken over sixty locations previously run by Jhoots
Many local residents have raised concerns with Rachel Gilmour MP regarding frequent and unexpected closures at Jhoots in Tiverton, as well as significant delays in collecting prescriptions. This has had impacts on waiting times and medicine availability at the area’s other pharmacies, creating significant disruption. These issues come despite a significant increase in pharmacy funding that local Lib Dem MP Rachel Gilmour MP obtained earlier this year.
Following a campaign by Rachel and other Lib Dem MPs, Allied Pharmacies has announced that they are taking over sixty Jhoots locations nationwide - including in Minehead, Williton, and Tiverton, which together serve the Tiverton & Minehead constituency.
Despite this success, Rachel has significant concerns regarding government's failure to act on the issue - it has just been bailed out by a private sector takeover.
Access to Pharmacies
I support Rachel Gilmour MP's call for the government to act urgently to ensure residents have access to local pharmacies
